Monsters, Inc & Monsters at Work - If I were a Grinch I would be welcomed in the Monsters universe

Pixar. A great production company or Disney slave? That depends on who is watching.
This week, Nicole and Rolando step back into the closet to visit the world of monsters. "Monsters, Inc" is the 2013 film by Pixar that explores a world where a city of monsters is powered by the screams of little children. The film is full of laughs and intrigue and tugs at the heartstrings as a relationship forms between a monster and child. How does this movie compare to the pantheon of Pixar greats? And why does it keep getting revisited regularly by Disney executives?
Then, the two discuss the latest offering from Disney Plus, "Monsters at Work." The show serves as a quasi-sequel to the original film that explores Monsters, Inc transition from scream energy to laughter energy. The work-place comedy disguised as a children's show introduces new characters and promises to bring the laughs. How does it compare to the original?

Cruella & 101 Dalmatians - I Can Excuse Animal Cruelty, but I Draw the Line at Bad Movies

Is there a bigger sin than animal cruelty? Nicole, Rolando AND Eddie Z get into this week as they discuss one of Disney's most notorious villainesses, Cruella De Vil. But is she really all that bad? What makes her so "hated?"
How did Cruella's character evolve between 1961's animated-feature, "101 Dalmatians" and 1996's live-action remake starring Glenn Close. And, in retrospect, is Cruella as evil as we make her out to be. Then they pivot to the 2021 Disney reimagining, "Cruella" starring Emma Stone. Can Disney change a villains bad reputation? But more importantly, why bother?
And lastly, just in time for PRIDE, Nicole and Rolando discuss gay representation in Disney films. Disney has been self-congratulating for featuring their first openly gay character. Round 1: 1995's Mortal Kombat, directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, follows protagonist Lou Kang on a revenge mission while simultaneously protecting the Earth-realm from Shang Tsung and his minions. How does this film rank amongst other video-game-adaptations? Is this film a flawless victory?
Round 2: 2021's Mortal Kombat has dropped in theaters and HBO Max. But, instead of following Lou Kang, Johnny Cage, and Sonya Blade we're introduced by Mary-Sue, Cole Young. And we're given the gift of exposition dumping and CGI.
